WEDNESDAY NIGHT CO-ED LEAGUE RULES
- League play is match
play- Handicap system based on USGA rules for 9-holes. Players
must be at least 18 years old and need not be members of Gopher Hills
Golf Course.
- Each team will consist
of 4 members each Wednesday. Each team may consist of any
combination of male or female golfers. Each team should have 2
subs available and must be on team roster.
- Sponsor fee is $125 and
must be paid to the pro-shop on or before April 30, 2009. League play
starts Wednesday, May 6th, 2009 and will run for 16 weeks. $16 of
each team’s league fee will go to the league secretary.
- The entire season will
be a 5:15 shotgun start. This means you are on the starting hole
ready to play… not in the clubhouse or parking lot.
- There will be a maximum
of 14 teams playing in the same bracket. Teams are assigned
randomly and a schedule will be issued.
- There will be a First
and Second half winner. The top 4 teams of each half will win
money. Based on 14 teams @ $125 each ($1750) fee
breakdown-Secretary. $225/ 1st & 2nd
half purse- 1st $175, 2nd $100, 3rd
$50, 4th $25 ($350 each ½) / Year end pay out: 1st
$300, 2nd $225, 3rd $175, 4th $125
($825 total). Payouts will be adjusted to the final number of teams in
the league.
- Match scoring is based
on 21-point match. 2 points for win of hole, 1 point for tie and
0 points for a loss. 3 point bonus to the net medalist.
- Each Wednesday the
front or back will be played as scheduled.
- In the event of
inclement weather, the pro-shop will decide whether to play or
not. If carts are pulled, the league will not play.
- Captains are
responsible to have 4 players each Wednesday.
- Forfeit. A player
(or sub) that does not show up will forfeit his match. A score of
13 & 0 will be recorded in the team totals. The player who
did show up must play his 9 holes and turn in his card, but the score
will not count for his handicap. In the event neither player
shows, no points will be given to either team. If a player shows
up late he will lose the 3-point bonus and 2 points for every hole
missed.
- Whenever possible, it
is encouraged to match handicaps as closely as possible.
- Summer rules are in
effect the entire season unless otherwise specified.
- League member’s
first night score will set their handicaps. After play of week 2,
an average will be calculated and a new handicap used for week 2.
Average scores will be used until the best 5 of 10 scores are
recorded. Handicaps will be posted each week. High scores
on any hole will be adjusted down per USGA rules.
- If in doubt on any
ruling, ask the members of your group. If you still don’t
know, play another ball from that spot and ask for a ruling when you
get in.
- All non-member players
are required to pay green fees and have a ticket available for display
to the starter. Failure to do so will disqualify that
team’s score for the week ENTIRELY. Member players must
display their member card.
