Course Details

Gopher Hills Golf Course offers great fun and challenge for all levels of golfers. Our scenic property includes the 18 hole Championship course—comprised of the Scottish Heath front nine and the Irish Glen back nine—and our Gopher Hills Golf Academy, complete with driving range, short game area and a Par 30 Lynx Executive 9-hole course. Lessons at the Golf Academy are FREE every Saturday morning with the purchase of range balls.

With 27 holes on three distinct nines, Gopher Hills Golf Course is located just 30 minutes South of the Twin Cities – between Hastings and Red Wing in Cannon Falls, MN.

Designed by Dr. Gordon Emerson and first opened in 1995, the original nine (now holes 10-18) has the mark of a classic, Early American layout, featuring tree-lined fairways, sculpted bunkers, numerous elevation changes, and plenty of risk & reward opportunities.

An 18-hole expansion in 1999 by Garret Gill added a strong European flavor, with a front nine and executive nine; each using wind, native grass, and undulating greens as defense against par.

We maintain a spectacularly scenic natural course, and use no herbicide in our natural areas to support our flora and fauna for our golfing friends. Don’t be surprised if you see turkeys, deer, foxes, tortoises and, of course, our gregarious gophers while you play. We are a member of Monarchs in the Rough, which benefits the preservation of Monarch butterflies by maintaining lush milkweed plants in our uncut rough areas where we use no herbicides and no carts are allowed.

To maintain pace of play (and help your scores!) we have eliminated out of bounds on our course and have adopted the new USGA penalty area rules, allowing you to play the entire course as a lateral hazard. Hit your ball over a fence or into the high vegetation? No need to re-tee. Just drop a ball two club lengths (no closer to the hole) from the perceived entry point, add a stroke and keep playing.

We want everyone to enjoy their time at Gopher Hills and we know you will have great experience every time you tee it up.
